One For The Money

"ONE FOR THE MONEY"
The "Blue Suede Shoes" series of bronze 32's
Bronze, Edition of 32
24" L x 16" W x 12" H

While trying to determine which 32 body style would be most popular, I concluded that there were probably enough people who like the 3 basic ones – roadster, 5-window, and 3-window and since they all went on the same chassis, I came up with a series.

At one point after having already taken a number of orders, I woke up at two in the morning with the song “Blue Suede Shoes” playing in my head. I decided that the roadster would be called “One for the Money” since it depicts a fellow deducing whether or not he’s going to buy it and what he’s going to do with it once he does. “Two for the Show” would be a 5-window parked in a drive-in movie with 2 people well-known individuals cuddling inside. “Three to Get Ready" will have a young fellow filling his gas tank from a vintage gas pump while combing his D.A. hairdo in preparation for a hot Saturday night. Of course, the words of the song are One for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, now go cat, go.… Which sort of calls for another 32 in the series – a very simple early hi-boy roaring down the road - "Go Cat, Go!"
